Brandon Hinsley is a Los Angeles based cinematographer from Nebraska, with five years of professional experience in Chicago and more than a decade working across film, television, commercial, documentary, music video, and live event production.
As a Director of Photography, Gaffer, Key Grip, Grip, Electrician, Camera Operator, and Camera Assistant, Brandon has built a broad understanding of the craft from both behind the camera and throughout the technical departments that support it. His experience in camera and lighting rental, equipment preparation, inventory, logistics, and production management has further shaped a process-driven approach grounded in preparation, technical fluency, and calm, collaborative leadership on set.
Brandon’s cinematography is focused on emotionally grounded, visually precise storytelling. He values early collaboration with directors and production teams, developing visual language alongside narrative structure, performance, production design, lighting, and the needs of each project. His approach balances discipline and intention with enough flexibility for abstraction, discovery, and improvisation when the moment calls for it.
His work includes independent narrative films, documentaries, music videos, commercial campaigns, and live productions, including work as Gaffer and Key Grip on The Perfect Gift, recipient of a 2023 Pacific Southwest Emmy Award for Commercial (Single Spot).
Outside of commercial and narrative production, Brandon has contributed his cinematography and video experience to socially conscious organizations including The New Hollywood and Generation Hope Omaha, and has volunteered with the Omaha Film Festival. His foundation in visual storytelling began through film and photography education, including Northwestern University’s National High School Institute Film & Video Division.
